Daqing, China – September 11–12, 2025 Journal of GeoEnergy was pleased to take part in the Seminar on Whole Petroleum System Theory Development and Exploration Practice, held in Daqing. The event brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals to advance the discussion on petroleum systems, shale oil evaluation, and exploration technologies.

Organized by the Petroleum Geology Committee of the Chinese Petroleum Society, and hosted by Northeast Petroleum University, PetroChina Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development, and Daqing Oilfield Company Limited, the seminar served as a key platform for sharing cutting-edge research and innovative practices in geoenergy and petroleum systems.

With additional support from specialist laboratories and research groups—including the National Key Laboratory of Green Exploitation of Continental Shale Oil and the Key Laboratory of Basin Structure and Hydrocarbon Accumulation—the conference highlighted integrated geological engineering approaches and emerging opportunities in unconventional resources.

As one of the supporting journals, Journal of GeoEnergy engaged with researchers and looks forward to publishing high-quality contributions presented during the seminar. The event underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the role of young and experienced scientists in shaping the future of energy exploration.
